Hanif (fka Luck-One) - Ex Games

It has been a year of changes for my dude Wonder. He has changed names, dropping "Luck-One" to his given first, "Hanif," and changed cities, leaving his adopted home town of Portland for his birthplace of NYC. He has also considerably switched up his style in the past few years, changing from a quick tongued, angry political-minded emcee to an equally thought provoking rapper who takes the time to slow it down and let you hear a broader range of sentiments and topics.

This offering, part of his Weekly Wonder series co-signed by 2DopeBoyz (represent!), showcases his evolution as an artist. The beat is a slow, chill-out groove, grinding bass and head bobbing drums over ethereal synth pads. The cadences are low key to match, waxing rhymes while reminiscing on relationships gone wrong. Hanif is on his grown-man, and what grown adult can't relate to this subject matter? Amen.

Stephen Mykal - Go Get It

I first became aware of Stephen Mykal at the iStandard Beast of the Beats producer showcase last month when he topped all the competition including your boy here. I was impressed and checked for him on Soundcloud. Here is his latest, with Mykal on the beat and the lyrics. Free DL for those who want to keep it!

Sam Lachow f. Sol & Mario Sweet - Action Figures Remix

If you haven't bought Sam Lachow's "Huckleberry" album yet, you are fucking up. It has been in my deck and on my phone on LOOP since it dropped in August. My busy / lazy ass (shouts to bone thugs!) hasn't been blogging lately but this album is most of what I would have posted about in the mean time. The original Action Figures featured one of my new favorites Gifted Gab, whose Girl Rap album is a must bump heater and has provided my wake-up alarm ringtone with "Trouble Man" since march. For the remix Sol tags in with his seemingly effortless yet oh-so-cool style to drop a nice verse, while the smooth and soulful Mario Sweet stays on board to keep the train running on the track. Hot shit.

Moe Betta - Springtime

My good homie Moe Betta has a new song and video fresh for Springtime. Sunshine, happiness and beautiful women on a cool, vibey beat. Love this shit! If you've seen me live lately you know that Moe and I have a song in the works, too. Stay tuned...
